About
Eldercare is one of South Australia’s largest and most experienced not-for-profit aged care providers.
Our story
Why we are here
Eldercare has been caring for older South Australians since 1959. Our purpose is to deliver peace of mind with our care. We do this through the services we provide in our residential aged care homes and our retirement living villages.
Who we’re here for
We are here for older South Australians, their families and their communities. We are also here for our employees, volunteers and the many suppliers and contractors who depend on Eldercare. We have an important role to play in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the South Australian community through the direct care we provide but also through the connections we have with the health system and community services.
What we’re known for
We are a diverse community. Our commitment to living our values everyday has created a culture that respects difference, promotes inclusion and supports everyone to feel safe and welcome.
Eldercare respects the rights of residents to exercise self-determination and autonomous decision making in the delivery of their care, including palliative and end of life care.
We are known for our expertise in palliative care and the care of people living with dementia.
Eldercare is a proud South Australian not-for-profit company that takes seriously our responsibility to be corporately, socially, and environmentally responsible.
Where we’ll grow
Eldercare has a strategic direction to grow our business.
We actively pursue growth opportunities in residential aged care and retirement living to increase scale, build resilience and sustainability. This includes a plan to unlock development potential in our existing assets.
Eldercare is committed to continuous improvement including being courageous and innovative, embracing technology and building our workforce capabilities.
How we work
Our culture and our service delivery is focused on our core values of respect, accountability and connection and on our purpose; this is what underpins our strategic directions and business planning. We always put purpose before profit and strive for constant improvement and innovation in our practice.
The wellbeing of our residents is central to everything we do. We recruit, train and support our staff according to our values to ensure quality resident care. We strive every day to maintain the ‘heart’ in our organisation while responding to a rigorous and evolving regulatory framework.
Measures of success
Our key success factor is positive outcomes for our residents. Eldercare achieves results that are better than the aged care industry average through our strong Clinical Governance, Corporate Governance and Model of Care.
We also know we are successful when the community values Eldercare and chooses us as their aged care or retirement living provider. Having high occupancy is a key indicator of success.
Our reputation is important to us, and we are highly regarded by the people who use our services, live in our homes, work for Eldercare and refer residents to Eldercare. We have high Net Promoter Scores from our residents’ family members, our employees and our referrers.
We also know we are successful when our employees are engaged. 83% of our employees have told us that Eldercare is a truly great place to work. Employee engagement is at 73%, this is a culture of soaring and places Eldercare in the top 5th percentile across the Aged Care and Health Sectors in Australia.
Our engagement with consumers is critically important to our success. Our consumer engagement strategy guides the organisation to effectively engage with our consumers. We know that consumer engagement contributes to the optimisation of the quality of care and quality of life of our consumers.
Eldercare is financially successful and has invested to ensure that we are resilient and sustainable. We manage risk well and invest in our future.
Eldercare is planning to continue serving South Australian older people for many generations to come.
